Thomas J. Wright

1947 - 2021

Thomas J. Wright, 74, of Huntsville, Alabama, peacefully passed away at home on November 29th surrounded by his family. Thomas was born in 1947 in Coffeyville, Kansas to Thomas and Leora Wright. After graduating from Field Kindley High School, Thomas earned a bachelor's degree from Wichita State University. In 1969, he met Susan (Renollet) Wright, with whom he celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in August this year. Together they lived and loved a full life, bringing two children into the world and touching all those he met with his thirst for learning and sharing knowledge. Thomas was an avid photographer and videographer, both professionally with Boeing in Wichita and then in Huntsville for 30 years and as a passion throughout his life. He merged technique, patience, and artistic imagination to create engaging technical pictures and videos, along with treasured family heirlooms. His career also allowed him to pursue his other passions of aviation, space, and scuba diving, through flying in B-52 bombers, documenting the International Space Station assembly, and assisting underwater astronaut training. Thomas is survived by his wife, Susan Wright; his two children, Astrid Carter and Elliot Wright (Jessie) of Washington, DC; and his grandchild, Zach Carter; and predeceased by his parents and his sister, Mary Lou Green. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at St. Mark's Lutheran Church on December 3rd at 11:00 a.m. with an outdoor reception to follow. Visitation begins at 10 a.m.
