Thomas Eugene Wright, age 95, of Glencoe, passed away peacefully on August 15, 2025. He was born on June 10, 1930.
Funeral services will be held at Liberty Holiness Church of Glencoe on Monday, August 18, 2025, at 3:30 p.m., with Pastor Jay Wright officiating. Burial will follow at Trinity Cemetery in Hokes Bluff. The family will receive friends at the church on Sunday, August 17, 2025, from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
Eugene retired from the Steel Plant after 37 years of dedicated service as a pipe fitter. A faithful and longtime member of Liberty Holiness Church, he was deeply devoted to his faith and enjoyed leading congregational singing. A 1948 graduate of Emma Sansom High School, Eugene later married the love of his life, Verna Jewel Lecroy, on June 10, 1949. He was proud and grateful to share their life together and showed great wisdom marrying Verna.
Eugene found joy in many simple pleasures, including hunting, fishing, and gardening. His quiet strength, devotion to family, and love for the Lord will be remembered by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Verna Wright; parents, Homer and Ada Grace Wright; brothers, George, John, and Jacob Wright; and sisters, Faye Smith and Eunice Shaneyfelt.
He is survived by his son, Gary (Marguaretta) Wright; granddaughter, Brianne (Terry) Lambert; great-grandson, Trevor Townsel; brothers and sisters, Frank (Barbara) Wright, Mary Lois Mayo, Ruth Mayo, Reginal (Glenda) Wright, Judy Hopwood, Danta Watwood, Janta (Mark) Spence, and Ramona (Jack) Jones; sister-in-law, Lillian Wright; numerous nieces and nephews; and special grandchildren, Johna Shaneyfelt, Judd Pruitt, Jay Pruitt, and Justin Pruitt.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Pro Health Hospice, as well as the kind employees of Glencoe McDonald's and Beans and Greens, for their care, compassion, and friendship.
