Joanna Brown, ret. Alumni Dir. HCC

I am thinking of you, Elaine, on this fifth anniversary of Tom's death. I am glad that the HCC Alumni Association chose him to be a Distinguished Alumni Award recipient in 2017, along with Leokadia Rowinski, a Polish Army resistance soldier who ran many clandestine communications operations behind Nazi lines in Poland and who was captured in the failed Warsaw uprising. Leokadia and your father (and mine, who fought in the trenches in the Battle of the Bulge) exemplify true courage. I hope that you are well and your life is good.

My condolences to Mr Zebrowski's family.
My father, David Mayer who was a medic in the army , served in the Yankee Division with Mr Zebrowski and often spoke highly about him.
May he Rest In Peace and join all his comrades who well served their country

Mr. Zebrowski exemplified the courage of many of his generation, fighting in some of the worst trench battles of WWII. He then dedicated his volunteer efforts to Veterans' organizations and causes, including being present at the funerals of other Veterans. We were glad to be able to honor him with the highest award given to alumni by the Holyoke Community College Alumni Association, the Distinguished Alumni Award, in 2007. As the retired director of alumni relations at Holyoke Community College, I have thought about this remarkable man many times in the past years. I feel blessed to have known you. Godspeed.
