Thomas Zoldowski Obituary

Dr. Thomas Zoldowski

Dr. Thomas Zoldowski died peacefully at home Monday, February 6, 2023, surrounded by his wife of 56 years, Susan; his children, Todd, Amy, and Abby; and his grandchildren, Thomas and Nicholas. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, James and Angie (Kozakowski) Zoldowski; his sister, Rosann (Trychel); and nephews, Scott and Marc Trychel. Thomas, or Tom to those who knew him, was a prominent leader in the Ohio Podiatry Community. Though first and foremost, he was a loving husband, father and papa.

Tom graduated from the University of Toledo in Pharmacy. Then in 1967, received his Doctorate of Podiatric Medicine from Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine in Cleveland, where he was valedictorian. While in Cleveland, he met and then married his wife, Susan. Upon moving back to Toledo and starting a family, Tom began building his podiatry practice and became a mentor and leader in the Podiatric Association and Medical Community. His achievements include being elected as President of the Northwest Ohio Academy of Podiatric Medicine, being selected as Delegation Chairman for APMA House of Delegates, in 1985, he was elected president of the Ohio Podiatric Medical Association, appointed as Secretary/Treasurer of the Silver Gavel Club, and upon his retirement he was recognized with the Ohio Foot and Ankle Medical Association Service Award.

He was known for his strong work ethic, patience, and a dry sense of humor. For relaxation he watched Michigan football and Red Wings hockey, hosted pool parties, bowled, golfed, played tennis, and loved working in the yard, but especially those annual trips to Puerta Vallarta.

More than anything, he loved his family, spending hours playing with his children outside, helping them with homework, and being a constant presence at every sporting event. This same devotion he showed to his children, he showed with his grandsons, being actively involved in their lives, showing up to every swim meet and baseball game, rain or shine (literally).

Tom loved the tradition of the Catholic religion. His faith was important to him as was his servitude to Mount Carmel, where he was an usher for decades.

A memorial mass will be celebrated on Friday, February 10, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, 8330 Lewis Ave, Temperance, MI, where visiting will begin in the narthex after 10:00 a.m. A gathering will take place in the church hall immediately following. In lieu of flowers, please find a time this month to help a friend, smile to a stranger, or offer a gift of kindness. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Urbanski's Bedford Funeral Chapel, 8300 Lewis Ave, Temperance, MI. Online condolences may be made at www.bedfordfuneralchapel.com
