I would first like to thank God for giving me and many others the opportunity to have known Bernard while he was down here. He was a special person to those who knew him. He will be missed but not forgotten as he takes his place in heaven. It is now up to us down here to take those good memories and trust we can be on the team with him someday up there in heaven. Make your memories good ones so good things are said about you. My prayers are with Bernard's family and friends.

To The Michell Family,

May your hearts be filled with great memories of JOYFUL times together as you celebrate a life well lived.

I have a Nardo moment I would like to share. My memory of Bernard when his family owned the laundrymat on Michigan and Northampton St [I was 10 or 11 yrs old]. I'd see Bernard loading the car to make deliveries-we would start talking!!

Fast forward 2004-2005, my parents tell me about this guy with a nice album collection name Bernard Mitchell...I called to see if it was the same person, yep same guy!!!!

Bernard, my jazz fusion friend, you will be surely missed

For those who knew Bernard, he was a special person. I met him and played ball with him at the BAC Downtown many years ago. No matter that he was a college b-ball star at Canisius, he would berate you if you passed up a shot after he's set you up with a brilliant pass. You were one of the guys and he treated you as an equal on the court. He was down to earth, and he had a great heart and a gentle personality. We'll miss you Bernard. My thoughts and prayers are with your family. You will be remembered warmly and fondly. Rest in Peace my friend.
