Joe Timothy (Tim) Henry was born May 24, 1952 in Selmer, TN the son of the late Derucie and Jo Ann Powers Henry.
He was united in marriage to Janie Mills on January 21, 1972.
Tim was a member of the first graduating class from McNairy Central High School in 1970. He attended Jackson State Community College and later earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Freed-Hardeman University. Tim began working with General Electric in September of 1972 and retired as a manager with 35 years of service in 2007. He enjoyed his work immensely and loved spending time with his co-workers. Tim had a quick wit and was always making up songs and poems on the spur of the moment. He was a great storyteller and would speak fondly and often of his memories growing up in the Bethel Springs community. Tim was an avid reader and collector of coins; when a child was born to the family, he would gift them with a coin that was minted in their birth year. He and Janie would often ride the backroads on Saturdays, looking for deer and other wildlife until there was little light left. He was also a student of history, but his favorite activity was spending time with his grandchildren. Tim was a member of the Bethel Springs Presbyterian Church. He loved life, his Lord, his family, and his friends with all his heart.
Tim departed this life on July 20, 2024 in Jackson, Tennessee at the age of 72 Years, 1 Month, 26 Days. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Janie Henry of Selmer, TN; two daughters, Jennifer Woods and husband Jason of Lexington, TN and Tammy Henry of Jackson, TN; two grandchildren, Jamie Yancey and wife Kelsey of Selmer, TN and Mary Logan Yancey and husband Jake Tidwell of Boone, NC; a brother, Todd Henry and wife Christi of Nashville, TN; three sisters-in-law: Betty Ann Henry, Regina Lambert and husband Mike, and Lisa Burkeen; a brother-in-law, John Anthony Mills and wife Cathy; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his parents, Tim was preceded in death by a brother, Sammy Henry; a sister, Beth Ray; his in-laws, Wilford and Mary Mills; and a brother-in-law, Dwayne Mills.
