Tim Mathes

Tim B. Mathes, of Alliance, Ohio, passed away Friday, February 20th at the age of 63. He was born to Duard and Dolores Mathes of Alliance, Ohio on October 20th in 1962. He grew up in Barcus Acres making good memories with his brother Tom and many friends. He attended Marlington Local Schools and loved all sports through his school years. He graduated high school, class of '81.

Throughout his lifetime he worked hard at every job he had, most recently as a Machinist at Haiss Fabriprint. He spent the last nine years married to his wife Barbara (Chapman) in Alliance. They enjoyed quick weekend trips to Hocking Hills and many outings to the grandchildren's sporting events. In the last few months, he took loving and gentle care of Barb after she had a stroke. A tenderness in Tim became very visible to those closest to him. His grandchildren were always special to him and he cherished every minute he was able to spend in their presence. He always made it a priority to show up for them. He was a loyal Browns fan, through and through, and many Sundays were spent with his mom watching the game. His heart knew no limits when it came to helping others even when he was struggling himself. He valued each relationship that he had, blood or not.

Children, Ryan (Courtney) Mathes of Louisville, Ohio and Casey (Derek) Smith of Paris, Ohio. Stepchildren, Christopher (Shelby) Chapman of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and Dakota (Sarina) Kirksey of Minerva, Ohio. Angie Presley of Alliance, Ohio and Kelly Presley of Wilmington, North Carolina. Grandchildren- Lily, Miles, and Willow Smith, Oriana and Violet Mathes, Dominic Kirksey, and Matthew Chase as well as nieces, nephews and cousins.

Preceded in death by his father, Duard Mathes and two granddaughters, Calliope and Addison Mathes.

Service will be held March 7th at Alliance Baptist Temple, 1441 W. Vine Street in Alliance, Ohio. Visitation to begin at 10 a.m. and the service to follow at 10:30. In lieu of flowers, we encourage you to "be like Tim" and help a friend or a stranger in need.
