Timmy Sims Obituary

Timmy James “T-Bone” Sims of Brandon, Mississippi, passed away on Friday, March 27, 2026, at the age of 66.

Tim was born on October 18, 1959, in Mendenhall, Mississippi. He grew up in South Jackson, where he attended Lee Elementary, Whitten Junior High, and Central High School. During his youth, he also spent a year in Hawaii attending school while living with his Uncle Kenith and family, an experience he always remembered.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Clara Jean Creason Barlow; his stepfather, Julian Barlow; his father, Billy E. Sims, Sr.; and his stepbrother, Tim Barlow.

Tim is survived by his son, Justin Sims; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Billy (June) Sims, Bobby (Bonnie) Sims, Richard (Janae) Sims, and J.M. (Sherry) Sims; his stepsisters, Suzette Barlow Nelson and Sharon Barlow Tharpe; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Tim attended Hinds Community College, where he studied paint and body work before later returning to pursue electrical training. He became a Journeyman electrician and worked with the electrical union for approximately 30 years. He began his career with Mid-South Paint and Body Shop and later completed his working career with English Color Paints.

One of five Sims brothers, Tim was the first to go to his final resting place. The bond between the brothers was strong and enduring, a connection that remained throughout their lives.

As a child, Tim loved playing baseball, riding his unicycle and bicycle, and spending time outdoors. Throughout his life, he enjoyed fishing, cheering on the New Orleans Saints, playing pool, and spending time with family during holidays and celebrations. He especially loved cooking out, partying with friends, taking road trips with his brothers, and sailing with friends. Tim was known for teasing his nieces and nephews and had a wicked sense of humor that brought laughter to those around him.

Tim will be missed deeply by his brothers, his family, and his many friends. While our hearts are heavy, we find comfort in knowing he has entered into the loving arms of our Lord and Savior.

As Tim would say,

“I won’t say goodbye… I’ll see you later.”
