TIMOTHY ALGRIM

TIMOTHY ALGRIM Timothy Leon Algrim passed away peacefully at the age of 68 on October 24, 2025, at his home in Hallsville, Missouri. Tim was born on March 8, 1957, in Garden City, Kansas and was a graduate of Garden City High School and resided here most his life. Tim loved to spend time with his dad on the tractor as a little boy and would even take naps on the tractor that did not have a cab. He had farm ground and a cow/calf herd. His favorite time of year was when the baby calves were born. He worked countless hours day and night to provide for his family. He loved John Deere Green and could repair anything. He was an amazing welder with an engineer's mind and loved to design and fabricate what was needed on the farm. He was so mechanical and could fix anything from rebuilding a farm truck with nothing but a frame, to fixing a broken axel on a grain cart that was left broke down in a field. Tim built a header trailer when he was just out of high school that he used throughout his entire farming career. He loved to use his Honda dirt bikes to check cattle and that gave him an excuse to ride. Tim was an athlete even at a young age and developed a love for running. One of the fondest memories he had shared when he was young was hammering nails into his tennis shoes to make running spikes. He would put a cape around him and turn around and watch it blow behind him and see the dirt from his spikes blow in the wind. He never acknowledged the pain from running with nails in his shoes. Another memory was running after the school bus that his dad drove, trying to beat Clifton home after school. This led to Tim pursuing running in school. Tim set records in middle school for the fastest mile time and then onto setting records in high school. Tim was the 1974 4A cross country state champion. Tim had the fastest 2 mile time in all classes earning him the title of All-American. He has held the fastest 2 mile record in the state of Kansas since 1974. In December 2021 Tim was inducted into the GCHS Hall of Fame for his Cross Country Championship. He was recruited by several Division 1 programs for track and cross country. Tim did not pursue his dream of running in college after his mother Isle passed away his senior year of high school. Instead Tim attended Garden City Community College and after college he went to work on the family farm. He was very passionate about motorcycles and passed this legacy on to so many people. Tim was selfless and when it came time to ride, he wanted to ride with everyone. He provided a motorcycle for everyone, so no one was left out. This brought him great joy just watching his friends and family ride. He loved to go fast so that lead him to take on racing. He raced motocross and was a champion at that as well. In November 2010 life changed once again when he was in tragic motorcycle accident that left him paralyzed, this became a new race for him to run. He attacked this race with grace and dignity. Tim never complained about the pain and the disability he had to endure on a daily basis. Tim had to sacrifice his pride, his image, his independence, his freedom, his livelihood and his family but he never lost his faith in God. Due to the accident he had to give up his passion on the farm, but this never stopped him from being a teacher or a working man in the shop. He was still welding while in his wheelchair for years after the accident. He would take apart his motorcycles or his side by sides to make them faster. He installed hand controls on his side by sides, so he was able to ride. He always had the dream of swinging his leg over a bike again. Unfortunately, he never got to experience that in this life. Tim would even work on his friends bikes and was very talented with decals and customizing his machines. We called it getting "Timinized." Tim was such a sweet and kind soul, even though he had a large intimidating frame. Tim was very sensitive and tender at heart. Tim was always the first to apologize on the rare moments he would get upset. He was so appreciative of those that took time out of their day to reach out to him. Especially after the accident. Tim would constantly say Thank You when he was being cared for. Tim never let his limitations break his spirit. He would continue to lift weights and push himself to be a better man every day. Tim was more of a man being paralyzed then most fully able bodied men. Nothing could break him or stop him from moving forward. When he learned of his prognosis, he approached it like everything else, with courage. He shared that he was ready to go to paradise but felt bad for those left behind. Up until the end Tim maintained his kindness, grace, compassion, his sense of humor, love for family and friends, gratitude and appreciation for the small things in life. He was always a positive influence on everyone around him. He was like an antidepressant when people would visit with him, when the visit was over, they always felt inspired and lifted up in spirit. People always said he should have been a motivational speaker because of all of his challenges he faced in life and maintained a positive attitude. Tim never said this isn't fair and he lived with the motto of NO REGRETS. Tim was always sure to tell everyone how he felt about them after he visited with them just in case he never saw them again. Tim's life can be described as a champion at every level of his life. Some words that come to mind when you know the true Tim are... Winner, Titleholder, Gold Medalist, Champion, Christian, Kind, Compassionate, Loving, Honest, Funny, Genuine, Graceful, Humble, Intelligent, Selfless, Strong, Courageous, Faithful, Loyal, Friendly, Happy and Appreciative. Despite all of his trials and tribulations his character stood strong. He never wanted anyone to see his struggles. When you spoke to him, he listened and would remember personal conversations between the two of you. Tim was loved by everyone who met him and he made everyone feel as if they were the only person in his world. He will be so missed by all and never forgotten. They don't make them like Tim anymore. Preceding Tim in death was his mother Isle Fern Rose Algrim, his father Clifton Algrim, and his brother Terry Algrim. His sister Tamara Carter survives. There will be a celebration of life at a later date in Garden City, Kansas.
