Tim was a wonderful man full of life and laughs. I will never forget our Lincoln tours with Tim during family vacations to Illinois. He was always the highlight of the visit in Chicago, Springfield, and New Salem. I had the great opportunity to visit with him one last time as an adult during a conference in Chicago a few years ago. He was just as warm and fun to be around as always as we went on a Chicago bus tour. Tim, may you finally get to meet Lincoln in heaven and may heaven enjoy all your heartwarming jokes. Condolences to the family.

Unlike imperfect humans, God does not lie and whatever he sets out to be done, will be done. God will rid the sadness we feel, especially when we lose someone so precious and loved like Timothy. May you find assurance in God's words at Isaiah 55:11.
Best wishes,
Abby C.

Tim and I were fellow Illinois Postal Historians. We referred to him as "Reader Tim" as he loved to read the old stampless letters from Illinois residents. We had much fun over the years sitting at stamp dealers tables and passing interesting items back and forth. We all appreciated Tim's humor. He will be missed by many friends.

I am stunned to learn of Tim's passing. Tim was a good friend of my late brother, Richard Crowe. I always enjoyed Tim's eclectic take on history, from Abraham Lincoln to John Dillinger and beyond. He tempered his encyclopedic historical knowledge with a warm, friendly demeanor. If there is a stamp show in heaven, Tim will be there--and not at the penny stamp table! Requiescat in pace, Tim...you will be missed.

Tim was a close friend of my dad, Tom Majewski. For many days and nights over the recent years, Tim would work at dad's house on research and pursuing his historical interests and sharing it with my dad, who is also a historical enthusiast. Whether it was the voice calling "hello Michael" from the computer room when I walked in the door from school, to the great company he was at dinner with dad and I, or the laughs and stories we all shared during our conversations about history, Tim was always a wonderful man. I know how much his friendship meant to my dad, and can only imagine how special it was to everyone else he met. I certainly was glad that I had the opportunity to get to know him over the recent years. He will certainly be missed. My deepest sympathies.

We met Tim through my brother, Tom. Tim was always willing to share his vast historical knowledge, and would spend hours, sometimes days, at Tom's house doing research on treasures they had found, or were looking for. We will miss chatting with him and hearing his interesting stories, and we know that Tom has lost a great friend. We are so sorry to hear of Tim's passing and extend our deepest sympathies to all who knew him.

I will miss spending weekends talking about postal history with my friend of 20 years, Timothy Bakken. His warm smile and offbeat sense of humor always made my day. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and passion with me. I will not forget you.
