Timothy J. COUGHLIN

COUGHLIN, Timothy J. Of Cambridge, March 18, 2024. Beloved husband of Ita Dennehy. Loving father of Maeve A. Coughlin of Chicago, IL. Devoted brother of Geoffrey Coughlin of Cambridge and the late Philip E. Coughlin. He is also survived by a nephew, Eamon Clark; sister-in-law, Therese Dennehy; and brother-in-law, John Clark; daughter, Kimberley J. Coughlin; as well as many sisters and brothers-in-law, nephews and nieces, grand nephews and grandnieces in Ireland and California.

Tim was an Electrical Engineer for many years starting with IBM and ending with Ciena corporation. He coached ice hockey with LBYH in Lexington for 20 years. He was so proud when "his" under 12 girls won the state championship.

Tim was a man of many talents, a musician all his life starting with drums as a child and later, guitar too. A golfer and captain of his high school team, "back in the day." Maine was his happy place. He was an avid outdoorsman including hiking, fishing and kayaking.

In 2008, Tim overcame and created a new life after sustaining a brain injury. He loved his job at the Stop & Shop, volunteering at the Douglas House and fixing lamps at the senior center fixit shop.

Tim was smart, funny and irreverent and rules were for bending. But any faults he had were more than compensated by his kindness, generosity and humorous personality. We are grateful to Mt. Auburn Hospital and Park Ave. Healthcare for the care and kindness they gave to Tim over the past months.



Funeral from the Douglass Funeral Home, 51 Worthen Rd., LEXINGTON, on Thursday, March 21, at 9am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Brigid Church, Lexington, at 10am. Visiting Hours at the funeral home on Wednesday, from 4pm to 7pm.
