Timothy Edward Curtis, 54, longtime resident of Superior, WI, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2023, in his home. He was born on Aug. 19, 1969, in Hancock, MI, the son of Max and Mary (Maloney) Curtis.
He married the love of his life, Aimee Larson, on Sept. 28, 2001, in Superior. They recently celebrated 22 wonderful years together.
Tim graduated from Hancock High School with the class of 1987. He was a dedicated Hancock Bulldog athlete and played baseball, football, and hockey. Many will joke that he was always the guy you wanted on your team and never the guy you wanted to play against. He went on to play hockey for the Sioux City Musketeers and UWS Yellowjackets. He worked for the Wisconsin Department of Transportation.
Tim loved the outdoors. He enjoyed mowing his lawn, removing snow, and running a chain saw. He loved hunting at the camp in Brule and golfing with buddies. Tim was incredibly passionate about youth hockey as both a coach and longtime Superior Amateur Hockey Association (SAHA) board member. He was proud to be called "coach" by hundreds of kids over dozens of years. He loved to tell stories, particularly if they were about growing up on Minnesota Street in Michigan. Tim was up for any and all shenanigans, had a big heart, was tough as nails and wore his hockey scar so well. He was an amazing father, husband, brother, and friend and will be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife Aimee; daughter Isabel; sons Max and Jack; sister Tracy Neumeier; brothers Todd, Tyler, and Trevor Curtis; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be at 11:00 AM on Thursday, Nov. 16, 2023, at Cathedral of Christ the King Catholic Church, 1410 Baxter Ave. in Superior, and will continue until the Mass of Christian Burial at 1:00 PM, with Fr. Anthony Yannom as celebrant.
The Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home, 1209 E. 5th St. in Superior, is assisting the family with arrangements. To leave condolences or sign a guestbook, please visit www.lenroot-maetzold.com.
Memorial gifts will be used for Isabel, Max, and Jack's college educations.

I met Tim one day when he was filling my tank up when he worked for Fina Gas station in Sioux City. He was new to town, having just started playing hockey for the Sioux City Musketeers. We became fast friends immediately. I remember one night returning home from 2nd shift work at the feed mill to find the house had been decorated with a stolen Christmas tree and the decorations (and pine needles everywhere) by Tim and the team. Funny guys. My wife, Lori, and I remember driving up to Superior to stay with Tim for a week visit 20 some years ago. He showed us his stomping grounds. We always had many laughs and a good time. Even with the limited time we spent together, Tim is involved in some of the best times in my life. I wish I could have been a little more addiment about contacting him lately and been in better touch with Tim. And I also wish I could have meet his family, which he absolutely loved from the bottom of his heart. I will never forget you, my dear friend Tim. I love you, man. Peace out.
Your friend,
Rick Moore

Tim and I were roommates at Hazelden. We spent long nights and weekends discussing family. His love for his family was overwhelming despite the struggles at hand. An amazing man.
