Timothy Hanson Obituary

Published by Legacy on Oct. 26, 2023.
It is with great sadness that we announce our beloved Timothy "Tim" Mark Hanson passed away October 25, 2023 in Niles, Illinois at the age of 68. Tim was born September 14, 1955 in Danville, Illinois. He is the youngest son of Lester Sr. and Anne Hanson, who preceded him in death. Tim is survived by his wife of 43 years, Kathy Anne Hanson; and two daughters, Casey Lee Hanson, and Crystal Zoe (Nick) Hoeppner; as well as "Papo" to his granddaughters, Aubrey and Annemarie Hoeppner; and joins his grandson, August Hoeppner in death. Tim is also survived by his brothers, Lester Jr. (Mike), Peter (Carol), and Paul (Sue) Hanson, in addition to many more loving extended family.
Tim and Kathy lived in Tulsa, OK from 1984 to 2018, where he was the founder and owner of Crystal Communications, a business telephone company, for over 35 years. Tim positively impacted the Tulsa area businesses through economic development and his leadership in the Tulsa Executive Association and the Tulsa Business Connection where he was known as the go-to "phone guy". He also created a small phone museum collection that he proudly showed to anyone who entered his office building. Tim employed many people in the community, often giving jobs and new life chances to ex-offenders, and even provided his daughters with their first real "on-the-job" experience teaching them the meaning of business and leadership.
Beyond his work, Tim was truly a loyal servant of God. He focused his life and efforts on service and ministry to others through his New Haven and Faith United Methodist Church communities. Actively involved in international mission activities building homes, feeding the homeless, providing disaster relief, and helping to restore lives through his volunteer leadership in The Exodus House, a program designed to offer opportunities for ex-offenders to have a healthy, nurturing, and accountable environment where they may begin their life again; Stand In The Gap Ministries, a program designed to provided people in need the empowerment to break unhealthy patterns in their lives and achieve self-reliance; Restore Hope Ministries, a program focused of hunger reduction, homeless prevention, and emotional and spiritual nurture. Tim was an active member of Lions Club International as President of the Brookside Lions Club for many years.
Tim truly believed in community, service to that community, and connecting to others through time well spent. Tim loved dancing, great Blues music, riding his Harley, smoking a cigar (a little too often), and above all his family. Tim believed our world could be improved if everyone simply dedicated a little bit of their time towards the common good.
Condolences and donations can be sent directly to the family.
A celebration of life is being planned by family for December 2, 2023. Details will be announced.

October 27, 2023

We moved into the house across the street from Tim and Kathy in Tulsa in 2007. A great friendship quickly developed. We have so many memories of card games and motorcycle rides and we will never forget Tim sitting in the hot tub with a cigar in his hand! Kathy, we love you so much and will be praying for you and your girls and ALL the family.
