Timothy Scott Heinze, 63, of McCall, Idaho, and Ontario, Oregon, passed away on November 8, 2025, after facing pancreatic cancer with courage and grace.
A devoted husband, father, and friend, Tim lived a life grounded in service, compassion, and genuine connection. He is survived by his beloved wife, Jolene; sons Benjamin (Chelsea) and Ethan; his extended family; and many dear friends.
Born in Joliet, Illinois, Tim was the son of Kenneth and Martha Heinze and the middle of five brothers. He later gained two more through marriage and embraced Jolene's parents as his own. Tim loved music, laughter, good food, and wine. He savored these joys with the people he valued most. He was most at home outdoors-running, golfing, skiing, or watching football.
From his days as a competitive runner at Augustana College (IL), where he earned degrees in political science and public administration, to completing a master's in health care administration at Washington University in St. Louis, Tim combined his passions for people, learning, and life in everything he did.
Over a 38-year career spanning California, Colorado, Idaho, and Oregon, Tim built organizations-and people-grounded in compassion, collaboration, and trust. As CEO of Valley Family Health Care, he led with integrity, guiding major growth that culminated in the groundbreaking of Fortner Clinic in an underserved neighborhood-reflecting his belief that quality health care should be accessible to all. He later continued his commitment to service as executive director of Treasure Valley Children's Relief Nursery, developing programs that supported families and protected young children. Colleagues remember him as a steady, thoughtful leader who gave as much as he expected of others.
Volunteerism was central to Tim's life. He served with Big Brothers Big Sisters, Four Rivers Healthy Community, and most recently with Adaptive Wilderness Sports of McCall, helping individuals with disabilities experience the outdoors. His legacy is one of service, integrity, and enduring work-always keeping what mattered most in focus: people.
Tim never sought recognition; he simply believed in doing what was right. Yet those who knew him understood the depth of his contributions-from strengthening communities to expanding access to care. His impact was quiet but lasting, carried forward in the lives he touched and the communities he enriched.
Above all, Tim cherished his family and friends. Their love and companionship brought him his greatest joy.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date at the Frosty Badger in Ontario, Oregon.
