Timothy Holt Obituary

Timothy J. Holt, 72, of Greensburg (Hempfield Township), died Friday, Aug. 13, 2021, at his residence after a struggle with cancer for the last 15 years. He was born Nov. 18, 1948, in Connellsville, a son of the late J. Howard and Mabel Brooks Holt. Tim was a 1967 graduate of Connellsville High School. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving with the 54th Signal Battalion at Nha Trang with the 1st Calvary, 13th Detachment. He was a retired yardmaster for the CSX Railroad, where he was employed for 42 years. He was member of the American Legion and the VFW. He is survived by his wife, Janie Duncan Holt; and his son, William T. Jones, of Greensburg. He is also the father of Carla Holt Barnhart; five grandsons, Jess, Gage, Jace, Seth and Rivr; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Gladys LaPorte, of Connellsville; and numerous nieces and nephews and their families. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, Donald Holt and Sam Holt, and two sisters, Laura Breakiron and Dolores Holt. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in the BROOKS FUNERAL HOME INC., 111 E. Green St., Connellsville, where services will be held at noon Tuesday with the Rev. Dr. Marvin C. Watson officiating. Interment will follow in Green Ridge Memorial Park. Military honors will be accorded by the Connellsville American Legion and VFW Honor Guard. Timmy trained me as a yardmaster at Connellsville 2005-2006. What a great, nice guy to work with. I remember when he first got diagnosed. Rest in peace bud.
