Timothy McGrath Obituary

Timothy McGrath

South Deerfield, MA - Timothy Owen McGrath, age 77, passed away on Friday, November 21, 2025 after a long illness.

He was born on January 30, 1948 in Mineola, NY. He was predeceased by his mother, Helen E. McGrath (Quinn), father, Daniel J. McGrath and his stepmother, Una McGrath (Lynch). He is survived by Carol, his loving wife of 49 years, his beloved sister-in-law Elaine Dietrich, niece Kristen Dietrich, nephew Eric Dietrich and best friend since high school, John Sadowski.

Tim had a 35 year career with the USPS and retired as a regional controller. When he retired, he enjoyed golf, singing with various groups and giving back to the community by serving on committees of various organizations as well as treasurer and president. He also mentored local high school students. He teamed up with Jonathan Peck, who wrote "Skills for Life" with Mike Jarvis, to teach these skills to the students. This helped them when they were interviewed for college, employment, and the military after they graduated.

Viewing will be held on Monday, December 1, 2025 from 2:00pm to 6:00pm at Wrisley Funeral Home, 90 Sugarloaf Street, South Deerfield. A funeral mass will be held at Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, 29 Sugarloaf Street, South Deerfield on Tuesday, December 2, at 11:00 am. Burial will take place in the family plot in New York at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the American Heart Association, Better Together Dog Rescue, or Western Mass Food Bank.
