Timothy McKimmie

Tim spent most of his life in New Mexico, and passed away near Silver City on May 7, 2025 at 77. He loved long hikes with his dogs, birds and growing vegetables. But to know what he was passionate about, try to find a copy of his book: "Farms and Foods, New Mexico's Agricultural Legacy," 2013. It was a labor of love. It was published a year after he retired from the College of Agriculture at New Mexico State University, Las Cruces, where he also worked as agriculture librarian.
Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, he spent his growing years in New York State and then Washington State where he earned his bachelor's degree. Then on to Arizona where he earned his first graduate degree, in plant physiology, and became forever smitten by the Southwest.
Tim is survived by his sister, Kathy McKimmie, Indianapolis, two nieces in Washington State, Heather and Jessica McKimmie, two grandnieces, and several cousins. Preceding him in death are his parents, William McKimmie and Katherine Roether, and his younger brother Bill McKimmie.
No services will be held at this time.
