Timothy J. Morrissey

1951 - 2022

Timothy J. Morrissey, 70, passed away unexpectedly on October 18, 2022, in Venice, Florida.

He was born in Bennington, Vermont on December 6, 1951, son of Gerald E. Morrissey and Phyllis (Lukasiak) Morrissey.

Tim grew up in Bennington, attending local schools and graduating with high honors from Mt. Anthony Union High School in 1969. He was President of his Senior class, and both quarterback and co-Captain of the MAUHS football team. Tim attended the University of Norte Dame in South Bend, Indiana, and continued his education at the University of Vermont, earning degrees in Civil Engineering and Fine Arts. He later received an MBA from Clark University in Finance and attended an Executive program at the University of Michigan.

Upon graduation, Tim and his first-wife Bonnie, moved to central Massachusetts, where they lived for over 30 years. Tim proudly spent his entire career working in the New England energy industry, starting with New England Electric. Tim was instrumental in assisting with European energy training and infrastructure set-up during this time at NEE, including a trip to Poland deepening his maternal roots. Upon their acquisition by National Grid, Tim continued managing regional power sources and grids, in Massachusetts, Vermont, and New Hampshire. Tim continued working at Dominion Resources as Director of NEPOOL Operations, until his retirement in 2014, though he consulted for Dominion for several years after. Following his retirement, he moved to Venice, Florida with his wife Deb.

Tim was very proud of his professional career and accomplishments; however, his primary interest was his family. Whether attending his daughter's soccer games, rounds of golf with his brothers and nephews, or visiting family in Bennington, he valued his time with the ones he loved. His devotion to his only daughter Casey, was evident in the pride and joy he expressed when engaging in conversation with or about her - she was the light of his life. He also enjoyed gourmet cooking, reading, walks with his dogs, running, skiing, biking, and various other physical pursuits. A lifelong sports fan, Tim never missed a New England Patriots or Norte Dame football game on weekends.

He is survived by his wife Deborah (Grant) Morrissey, his daughter Casey Morrissey, his siblings Brian Morrissey, Diane (Morrissey) Daley, and Rep. Mary Morrissey, and extended family. He was predeceased by his parents, his sister Jane (Morrissey) Maloney, his brother Gerald Morrissey, and his brother Walter Morrissey.

The funeral and burial ceremony will be private under the direction of Mahar Funeral Home. A reception will be held at Mt. Anthony Country Club in Bennington, Vermont on Friday, November 11, 2022, at 12:30, where family and friends are invited to gather for a Celebration of Tim's life.
