Timothy Gordon Mowery, Jr., beloved husband of Shirley (nee Swingle) died suddenly on February 16, 2026. Survived by daughter Kimberly A. and grandsons Ethan and Carter Heiss; sister Shirley Babcock (Lester), nephews Lester, Jr., and Christopher (Donna), and niece Veronica Schneider (Lance); and sisters Sandra Marion (John Kopcso), Sandra Ellis, Ann King, and Donna Chambrlain. Predeceased by father Timothy Gordon Mowery, Sr.; mother Fern Mowery (nee Cooper); and brother Oakley Chamberlain.

Tim is also survived by son John Zipco and daughters Kimberley Streckert (Daniel) and Rhonda Constable (Edward); granddaughters Jessica Bowlen (Kevin) and Elizabeth Hodges (Hubert, Jr.) and grandson David Duggar; and great-granddaughters Isis Harrison (David), Genevieve Bowlen, Ryleigh Bowlen, and Cadence Hodges.

Tim enlisted in the Army on March 12, 1968, and qualified as a paratrooper. He was a decorated Army and Vietnam War veteran, having served as a sergeant with B Company, 2d Battalion, 8th Infantry Regiment, 4th Infantry Division from March 19, 1969, to January 30, 1970. While serving in Vietnam, he was awarded three Bronze Stars, two of which included the "V" device; two Purple Hearts; the Army Commendation Medal; the Vietnam Service Medal; the Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm Unit Citation; and the Republic of Vietnam Civil Actions Honor Medal First Class Unit Citation. On March 12, 1970, he was honorably released from active duty and transferred to the U.S. Army Reserve Control Group (Reinforcement) until his discharge on March 1, 1974.

Tim loved travelling and was an avid hunter, fisherman, and licensed taxidermist and a self-taught artist. During his career, he was vice president of the local 913 New Jersey laborers' union. He will always be loved and remembered by those he has left behind.

Ceremony with full military honors on Friday, March 6, at 9:30 am, at Jacksonville National Cemetery in Jacksonville, Florida.

Memorial service on Friday, April 24, at New Antioch Baptist Church in Summerville, Georgia.
