Timothy Pennell Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Trahan Funeral Chapel & Prearrangement Center on Dec. 12, 2025.
Our dear father and grandfather, Timothy H. Pennell, age 77, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, December 10, 2025 at his home. The son of the late Hamilton and Clara (Rybak) Pennell, he was born on February 19, 1948 in Bay City and has resided here since. Tim graduated from Bay City Central High School in 1966. He then proudly served his country with the U.S. Army, completing a tour of duty in Vietnam. Tim was a dedicated employee of Dow Corning and retired from there as a process engineer in 1998. Over the years he stayed active in our community as a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and the P.L.A.V. #162, the Eagles Club #1010 and AMVETS Post 22.
Tim loved to golf and enjoyed being a member with the St. Stan's A.C. golf league for many years. He followed sports his entire life and was a great fan of all U of M athletics. He was a fan and booster of Bay City Central football and coached basketball for several years at Immanuel Lutheran School. Tim and his family cherished their time together camping at Round Lake and spring break trips to Panama City, Florida. He was known for his humor and quick wit, and his sarcastic side that was all in good fun. Tim was an amazing, wonderful, generous man who gave so much to so many. His loyalty to those he loved never wavered, and he was always ready to lend a helping hand. Tim will be remembered as a devoted husband and loving father. He loved every one of his children and grandchildren and was so proud of each of them.
On March 20, 1971 Tim was united in marriage to the former Lois Marie Sinn and sadly she preceded him in death on January 13, 2021. Together they built a full and happy life together, and were blessed with three children, Kristin (Don) Haynes of Essexville, Brad Pennell of Bay City and Jeff (Wendy) Pennell of Hermitage, TN; and four dear grandchildren, Madeline Haynes, Emma Haynes, Chloe (Silas) Kaul and Lincoln Pennell. Tim is also survived by a brother-in-law, Gene Niedzwiecki; many nieces, nephews and friends, and his special longtime golfing and card playing friends, the Beattie's and the Groya's. In addition to his wife and parents, Tim was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Lauren Haynes; and his siblings, Bev (Carl) Doan, Sharon (Gary) Bishop, Terry (Mary) Pennell, Mary Niedzwiecki and Penny (Ron) Nuechterlein.
A Memorial Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 16, 2025 at Trahan Funeral Chapel. Rev. Chris Garcia will officiate, and Military Honors will be conducted by the U.S. Army. Visiting hours will be on Tuesday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. Charitable contributions may be directed to the wishes of the family. Earlier today

So sorry to hear. Tim was best man at my wedding. In basic training he had me take the top bunk. He didn´t want to sleep that far from the floor I guess. Best thoughts to the family.
