Timothy Scott Reed died at his home in
Elkton, Kentucky, on November 28, 2025. Born January 3, 1947, in Morristown, New Jersey, Tim was married for 55 years to his loving wife, Winifred Owen Reed.
After graduating from college and serving in the military, Tim pursued an active and successful career in information technology, working principally on projects designing and installing information management systems for large companies and agencies in the Washington, D.C., area. He also worked for several years as business manager of a 340-acre estate in Middleburg, Virginia.
Tim had a wide range of interests, pursuits, and accomplishments. He was a true Renaissance man. An avid reader, Tim's knowledge spanned the classics, science fiction, world history, politics, military history, and international affairs. He could discuss with passion and authority the works of writers and poets ranging from Eliot to Hemingway, from Dickens to Fitzgerald, from Robert Louis Stevenson to Neal Stephenson, from Dylan Thomas to Bob Dylan.
Tim also was a knowledgeable audiophile, compiling a vast collection of music across numerous genres. He also designed and maintained a state-of-the art audio system for his home in Elkton. In his retirement, he spent considerable time restoring his home and also found time to become a student of the stock market and an astute day trader. Tim also developed a wide-ranging knowledge and expertise in the emerging science of artificial intelligence.
The son of Mr. and Mrs. Kinzy Albert Reed of Mohrsville, Pennsylvania, Tim attended American University in Washington, District of Columbia, graduating in 1969. After graduation, Tim served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam war, stationed in Lackland and Wichita Falls, Texas, and Joint Base Andrews, Washington. He then attended George Washington University, graduating with Master of Business Administration and Master of Public Health degrees in 1975.
Tim is survived by his wife, Winifred, and his son, Kinzy Owen Reed, both of
Elkton, Kentucky. He is also survived by a brother, Calvin T. Reed, of Lebanon, Pennsylvania, a sister, Janet M. McFatter of Lafayette, Louisiana, and numerous nieces and nephews. Burial will be private. Donations in Tim's name may be made to
