Timothy Jon "Tim" Shields

Timothy Jon Shields, 78, of Florence, KY (originally from Charleston, WV) went to be with the Lord on November 18, 2025 receiving His warm embrace. Tim was born on June 6, 1947. He was a devoted Christian, father, brother, grandfather, uncle, coach, teacher, and friend. He was known for his kindness, his dry humor, and his unwavering generosity with his time. Coach Shields spent more than 50 years at Conner Middle/High School, Villa Madonna, and Thomas More College. He was a coach, teacher, and mentor to everyone he came across, touching countless lives with patience, compassion, and fairness. Outside of work he loved West Virginia, the Atlanta Braves and Eddie Mathews, watching Westerns, painting, all our family pets over the years, and most of all his family.

Tim is survived by his son Timothy Jon Shields II, his daughter January Shields Dubose, his daughter-in-law Racheal Shields, his son-in-law Eddie Dubose IV, his grandchildren Timothy Jon Shields III "Trey", July Rose Dubose, Grey Riggs Dubose, Austin Shields, sister-in-law Sue Shields, older brother Donald Shields, and companion and best friend Kelly Kessler.

Visitation will be held on Monday, November 24, 2025 from 4pm to 6pm at Florence Methodist Church. Funeral services will immediately follow at 6pm. Tim will be laid to rest at Woodlawn Cemetery (335 Maple Avenue, Fairmont, WV) at 3pm with Military Honors.
