TIMOTHY VAN STRATTON

1958 - 2025

Timothy Van Stratton, 67, of Covington, passed away Sunday, December 21, 2025, at Broad Acres Nursing Home in Wellsboro. He was born February 20, 1958, in Blossburg, a son of Carl and Dora (Messenger) Stratton.
An Air Force veteran, Timothy worked as a machinist for CGW, Steuben, and Corning Incorporated, where he held multiple patents. A true renaissance man, Timothy had a lifelong passion for learning and hands-on pursuits. Over the years, he farmed the land, tended his gardens with care, hunted raccoons, raised and raced pigeons, and even competed in rodeos and raised and trained horses. His interests also included knife making, match shooting, deer hunting, and golfing. He especially enjoyed fishing at the pond in his front yard and spending time chatting with friends at the shooting range. In retirement, Timothy's mechanical skill and reputation for excellence continued to grow. He became well known for making and repairing firearms sought after by top shooters. Timothy won a national shooting competition for bench rest shooting.
He was predeceased by his brothers, Carl Stratton Jr. and James B. Stratton, and by his parents, Carl and Dora Stratton. He is survived by his son, Chad M. Stratton; daughter, Marcie Stratton Kremer of Painted Post, N.Y.; two grandchildren, Hunter and Levi Stratton; partner, Karen Burris; brothers, Lawrence Stratton of Ithaca, N.Y., and Dale Stratton of Kodiak, Alaska; and sisters, Shirley Stratton-Rogers of Ephrata and Sue (Peter) Downes of Raleigh, N.C.
