Mr. Timothy Randy Thomas, age 63, of Mount Airy passed away on Saturday June 14, 2025, at Atrium Wake Forest Baptist Hospital in Winston Salem, NC. He was born in Surry County the son of Russell Thomas and the late Nancy Culler Thomas. After a career with Walmart, Randy spent his time volunteering and coaching at Meadowview Middle School. He was a member of Granite Masonic Lodge # 322, Surry Shrine Club and Mount Carmel Baptist Church. He loved grilling, music and spending time outdoors, but more than anything he enjoyed being “Papa” to his five grandchildren. Surviving is his wife, Susan Harold Thomas; his children, Andrea Thomas Tucker and her husband, Jordon, Casey Thomas Carey and her husband, Nick; grandchildren, Jace Tucker, Adley Tucker, Sylvie Tucker, Ellie Carey and Jack Carey; sisters, Lisa Glass and her husband, Joseph, Amy Smith and her husband, David; his father, Russell Thomas; his mother-in-law, Sylvia Harold and his beloved dog, Jenson. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his sister, Allison Thomas, his birth father, Don Snow and his father-in-law, Bobby Harold. A private graveside service will be held and a public visitation will be held on Wednesday June 18, 2024 from 4:00 until 6:00 PM at Mount Carmel Baptist Church’s Christian Life Center, 123 Mount Carmel Church Road, Mount Airy, NC 27030. In lieu of flowers we ask for donations to The Randy Thomas Impact Fund, P.O. Box 1545, Mount Airy, NC 27030. The mission of The Randy Thomas Impact Fund honors the legacy of Randy Thomas by supporting the heart of our communities-teachers. This fund provides direct monetary assistance to educators, empowering them to meet the real-life needs of their students beyond the classroom. The Randy Thomas Impact Fund equips teachers with the means to support the whole student-mind, body, and spirit. Moody Funeral Service of Mount Airy is entrusted with his arrangements.
