Timothy Gene Tyler

Timothy Gene Tyler unexpectedly passed away on October 23, 2025, at 57 years old. He was born in Atlanta, Georgia on May 7th, 1958. His family moved to Houma, Louisiana in the mid-60s. Tim was raised in a large family – 2 brothers and 3 sisters in Bayou Delarge. He graduated from Terrebonne High School where he excelled in football and track. After high school, he went on to graduate from Nicholls State University earning a degree in Petroleum Technology in 1984. Tim then worked at the Worlds Fair in NOLA until he moved back to Georgia. This is where he met his wife, Glenda.

Tim was a beloved father and son. He had two sons of his own, Chad and Travis. He was a kindhearted soul who would do anything for anyone- even someone he had just met. Tim enjoyed watching all sports and working in his garden. He was a hard worker and immensely enjoyed working at the JW Marriott in New Orleans, where he worked for over 20 years. He loved meeting people – He never met a stranger. He was also quite an animal lover. Tim always had pets: Cats, Snakes, Nutria, Racoons – He loved them all.

Tim is survived by his sons, Chad and Travis; his siblings Terry, Ramona and Tina (Tommy); his nieces Crystal (Brent) and Juliana; his nephews Craig, Cheston, and Tyler Beaux. He also has a great nephew, Bachus, and great niece, Ruby, whom he both adored.

He was preceded in death by his brother Tony and his sister Tamalita; his parents Tommy and Shirley Tyler; his grandparents Alfeda Dupuis Lalonde, Clayton Dupuis Sr., Willie Hatfeild Tyler, and William Tyler; as well as his wife Glenda.

His kind, generous, loving soul will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing Timothy Gene Tyler.

A celebration of life for Tim will be held at Tharp Funeral Home (1600 N. Causeway Blvd, Metairie, LA 70001) on Sunday December 14, 2025, from 1:00-2:00PM.
