Timothy J. Weight, 68, of Georgetown, Texas, passed this earth October 24, 2025, surrounded by all his family. Born in Manhattan, KS, Tim grew up in many parts of the US before his family settled in Lee's Summit, MO. His higher education started in Nebraska where he studied pre-medicine. After deciding medicine wasn't his forte, he transferred to the University of Missouri at Rolla (now Missouri S&T) to follow in his dad's footsteps of electrical engineering. Still too stuffy for him he changed to Mining Engineering and graduated with a BSMinE in the winter of 1981. He married his sweetheart, Pat, whom he met at Rolla, in February, 1982. His first professional job landed him in Childress, TX, where he became the Childress Area Engineer of TxDOT. Tim and his family later moved to Georgetown where he notably was responsible for the construction of the Central Texas Turnpike Project which included design-bid-build and alternative delivery method of design build. Quick to pass all praise and accolades to those who worked with him, Tim eventually was recognized as the Unsung Hero for his humility. Tim was also rewarded for his outstanding service in highway engineering with the Dewitt C. Greer award. One of the highest honors TxDOT bestows on an engineer. Upon his retirement after 30+ years with TxDOT, Tim moved to the consultant arena with HW Lochner providing his expertise as Director of Construction Services for the firm's Texas markets.

Away from the office, Tim tinkered in his shop that he and various family and friends built. He offered his expertise readily, at times whether you wanted it or not! The next "the boys" fishing trip to Texoma was being planned and organized before the gear was stored from the last event. Stories and tales were told and repeated growing with each iteration. His quick wit was infectious. He filled our days with laughter, warmth and memories.

He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Genie Weight, and brother Greg Weight. Tim is survived by his wife of almost 44 years, Pat; daughter Nichole Fitzpatrick (Shawn); son Matthew Weight (Braden); daughter Mikayla DeMaio (Jack); grandchildren Logan and Kaley Fitzpatrick, Avery and Finley Weight, Asher and Stetson DeMaio; sisters Beki Weight (Kevin Groenwald) and Lori Weight Siemons (Bret); multiple nieces and cousins.

He loved fiercely, worked tirelessly, gave generously and lived vibrantly. He will be deeply missed.

My deepest condolences to Tim´s family and his many friends. Tim had a one-of-a-kind wit and a way of making every challenge feel manageable. Working with him on SH 130 was truly a blessing - not just for TXDOT, Lone Star Infrastructure, and HDR, but for everyone lucky enough to be part of the team. He was driven to see the project succeed, yet always humble, quick to push credit to others, and focused on making the team shine.

Meeting with Tim could sometimes feel like going to the principal´s office, but he always found a way to add humor and warmth, breaking the ice and softening any hard truths that needed to be said. He made us better - as professionals and as people. His presence, his laughter, and his quiet strength will be deeply missed. John Rempe

I first met Tim in Childress. We were both young engineers working for TxDOT. He worked at the Childress area office and I worked at the Materials and Tests Division in Austin. Our careers crossed paths over the last 30 + years as we worked together on several projects. I worked closely with Tim after we both left TxDOT and worked in the private sector. Tim was always a brilliant engineer, always coming up with simple solutions to complicated engineering problems. Beneath his tough guy exterior, he was a kind soul. Always ready to lend a helping hand and worked hard with integrity .
I wish to express my deepest condolences to Tim´s family and friends for our loss.
