Timothy White Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Perry Funeral Home - Newark on Jul. 17, 2025.
Timothy White, better known as "Yoke" or "Tariq", passed away peacefully on July 10, 2025 at the age of 65. He was born March 26, 1960 to the late Claude and Louise White. Tim grew up in Newark in a well-respected household and attended Newark schools. He played football for a short while at Malcolm X Shabazz High School.
In his short time here, Tim enjoyed a carefree life and gathered up some good Day 1 friends along his journey, like-Sal, Fann, Swakil, Cory-Raheem, Reggie-Muti, Samad Johnson, Fat Mike, and so many more. He had two more BFFs and they were his dogs (Basha and Mr. White).
Tim worked many jobs and two favorites were A&A Scrap Metal and Honey Baked Ham. He liked to drive his friend's Lincoln Continental, ride out on motorcycles with his friend Cory-Raheem, and he loved dancing and won many dance prizes at Zanzibar. He also loved eating (especially hotdogs), cooking on the grill, fishing with the family, riding his bike or just hanging out in his old neighborhood. Tim was very funny and loved to hyke on you, but that mouth of his was a piece of work at times.
Tim loved everybody but sometimes had trouble expressing it, but if you were around him it would always show through in his actions. He was full of life at one time and wanted to do so much more, but his health issues began to play a big part. Finally, God called him Home.
Timothy is preceded in death by two siblings - the late Billie C. Lassiter and Claude White Jr. (Sonny).
He is survived by his two siblings - Ms. Dianne White and Mrs. Marissa (White) Carter; two children -Monique Brutus and Kalema Carter; five grandchildren - Asamin, Malazia, Dayonna, Dakota and Pascal Jr.; three nieces - Courtney, Briana and Tanasia; five nephews - Donald Jr. (Peppy), Brian (Sonny), Rahmar (Pee), Jamal (Miles) and Rashid Jr.; two brothers-in-law - the late Donald Lassiter Sr. and Curtis Carter; his significant other - Vanessa Tillery; four stepchildren - Ayesha, Tywaun, Lashonah and Sheila; along with a host of other relatives and friends.
