At the age of 72 Timothy D. York (Tim) met our Lord Jesus Christ on September 27, 2025, when The Weight of God's Glory carried him Home after a long battle with ALS. Tim was a devoted Member of Christ Church of Orlando during the time he and his wife, Christie, lived in Florida. Even in illness Tim was faithful to watch Pastor Paul Valo bring The Word of God via Social Media Technology. Tim retired from Orange County Fire and Rescue in 2012, and he and Christie moved to
Lexington, KY to care for her aging Parent's. During that time, they attended Bridge Church which eventually merged with another Church to form Freedom Community Church led by Pastors Jeff Lytle and Mike Currans. Tim truly had a servant's heart. He was involved in Community Outreach to The Homeless, ministering to the Youth, using his gifted skills of Carpentry to build whatever was needed by the Church and the Community and was even known to share his talents on the stage in numerous Church productions.
In Tim's Professional Life he was an Engineer with Orange County Fire and Rescue for 30 years. His coworkers held Tim in high esteem due to his humility, calm nature, knowledge, and his excellent communication skills. Tim never talked about the lives that he saved which included helping fellow firefighters trapped in a warehouse fire. He cared deeply about his fellow Brothers in the Fire Department and was always available to use his excellent carpentry skills to help in their home projects outside of work. He was a wise man and a wonderful listener always available to offer them good Godly advice. Tim also owned a side business installing garage doors and was generous to a fault, at times, especially to those with limited incomes. He often walked away with little, to no, profit but it was his joy in helping others. Tim was truly a faithful servant on many levels.
Tim loved his Parents Gilford and Katherine York and was the youngest of four children. Tim was the only boy and his sisters, Pat, Linda, and Norma, doted over him. Their stories include happy memories such as the times that they practiced their haircutting skills on Tim, and he happily complied. Tim loved his sisters dearly and they have remained close all their lives.
Tim was so proud of his two sons TJ and Kevin and always talked about their adventures together, especially their trips to The Keyes in Florida where they would camp and fish with other firefighters and their children. Tim has watched his sons grow into wonderful and responsible men, just like their dad. Kevin, and his wife, Reina, gave Tim a precious gift, his cherished Granddaughter, Elaina Malu, the apple of his eye. Hearts are broken that he won't have the opportunity to watch her grow into the fabulous young woman that he knew that she would become. Tim also had a beautiful Goddaughter, Melissa, who loves her "Daddy Tim" and has been devoted to him, frequently traveling from Orlando to be with him during his lengthy illness.
Tim was also a wonderful Uncle to his Niece, Kelly (Steve) and his nephew, Brian (Sharron), who felt more like a little Brother to Tim. His great nieces and nephews, on both sides of his family, shared much laughter and joy whenever Tim was around, especially when he spoke to them in his Daffy Duck voice. Tim's joy was contagious., His numerous Cousins, were more like Brothers and Sisters to Tim and he dearly loved each of them. Thank you for your prayers and gifts that touched his heart, you each are cherished,
The list of Tim's Friends is endless and mentioning them all would be impossible. But to those who called, came to care for him, sent cards, texts, and emails, prayed for him, and loved him, Thank you from the bottom of his family's hearts. We will love and miss you Tim, more than words can say.
