Timothy Alphonso Younger also known as T.Y., 68, departed this earthly life on February 7, 2024, peacefully in the comfort of his home located in Lynchburg, Virginia. He was born April 9, 1955, in Lynchburg. Timothy was preceded in death by his parents, Geraldine Preston Younger and Thomas Younger, as well as his sister Norma Jean Younger. He is survived by his sisters Faye Younger Paige, and Kimberly Denise Younger, his children Alfonso (Bridget) Younger and Alexis Brown, as well as five grandchildren: Contrez Jr., Alfonso Jr., Ona’layah, Cuintrae, Ona’ziyah and a host of loving family and friends.
Timothy “Tim” Younger grew up in Lynchburg alongside his three sisters, Norma, Faye and Kim. He went to E.C. Glass High School and upon graduating, he enlisted in the United States Army, where he successfully completed the Infantry Advanced Individual Training at the United States Army Infantry Center on December 20, 1977. In addition to serving in the U.S. Army, Tim also served in the U.S. Navy, where he completed the transit of the Panama Canal on the good and trusty ship, USS Saginaw (LST-1188) on June 15, 1979.
After serving eight years, in two branches of the military, Timothy returned to Lynchburg, where he worked diligently in many different industries. He strived to take care of his children and was always there for everyone in his family, in any way that he could and was passionate about doing so. There are many ways that Tim could be described, as he was loving, caring, funny and always smiling. He never hesitated to let you know exactly how he felt and no matter what he had to say, he always did so with a smile on his face.
Broken Chain -
We little knew that morning that God was going to call your name. In life we loved you dearly, in death we do the same. It broke our hearts to lose you, you did not go alone; for part of us went with you the day God called you home. You left us peaceful memories, your love is still our guide; and though we cannot see you, you are always at our side. Our family chain is broken, and nothing seems the same, but as God calls us one by one, the chain will link again.
