Tobias R. "Toby" Book, 58 of Pittsburg, KS died October 29, 2025 at his home.
He was born February 3, 1967 in Topeka, KS the son of Lauren J. and Barbara M. (Masters) Book.
On February 3, 1995 he was united in marriage to Carla Berry in Las Vegas Nevada; she survives him of the home.
Toby started working for the City of Pittsburg in 1997. All but two of the years spent working for the city were under the Parks and Recreation department. He worked with many local organizations throughout his career with the City including the Pittsburg Parks and Recreation Advisory Board, Active Transportation Advisory Board, Little Balkans Committee, JL Hutchinson League, Pittsburg Fastpitch Association, Kiwanis Clubs, Rotary Clubs, Pittsburg Beautiful, Everybody Plays, Pittsburg 150, the YMCA, St. Mary's Colgan and Pittsburg High School athletics, Pittsburg State Club Baseball, American Legion Baseball, Pittsburg State University Construction Department, SEK-CTEC, and many other groups and community members. When Toby wasn't serving the community, you could find him hunting, fishing, spending time with family, or watching his teams. Toby was an avid Chiefs and Royals fan, going to many games over his lifetime.
He was a long time and faithful member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Frontenac.
Additional survivors include a son Josh (Mollie) Book of Pittsburg; his father Loren Book, two brothers: Michael (Rhonda) Book and Dana (Kristen) Book, all of Topeka, along with many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother and two brothers.
Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 3, 2025 at Garden Of Memories Cemetery with Father Josh Evans officiating. The family will receive friends on Sunday evening November 2nd from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bath-Naylor Funeral Home of Pittsburg. Memorials may be made to Pheasants Forever (www.pheasantsforever.org/donations.aspx); these may be left at or mailed to the funeral home. Condolences may be left at www.bathnaylor.com. Services and arrangements are under the direction of the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home of Pittsburg.
