Tobias M. Martin

82, of Cranston, passed away on Thursday, November 27, 2025, at Hope Health Hulitar Hospice, Providence. He was the beloved husband of Madeline (Bisbano) Martin for 60 years. Born in Fall River, MA, he was the son of the late Tobias C. and Lucy (Marshall) Martin. He was the loving father of Lori Esposito and her fiancée Marshall Poole, and Scott Martin and his wife Karen. Cherished grandfather of Joseph Esposito III, Ava Esposito, Cameron Martin and Brandon Martin. Brother of Sharon Francis and the late Lucille Mello.

Toby worked as a machinist at Brown & Sharpe for 20 years in his early career. He later served the State of Rhode Island as a maintenance supervisor and construction supervisor for the Rhode Island Army Armories. Toby was also a proud member of the National Guard—first with the Army’s 861st Engineers as a heavy equipment operator, and later with the Air Force National Guard in the 143rd Tactical Airlift Command, where he served for more than 25 years.

If Toby couldn’t buy something, or felt that what he could buy wasn’t good enough, he would simply make it himself—even if it took years. He loved maintaining and building cars and owned many over the years. His most recent was a ’72 Chevelle convertible, which he lovingly named Lu Lu after his mother and sister.

Above all, Toby dearly loved his family and friends.

His funeral will be held on Tuesday, December 2nd at 8:00am from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 a.m. in St. Matthews Church, Cranston. Burial with military honors will be held in RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter, at 10:30 a.m.. VISITING HOURS: Monday, December 1st from 4:00-8:00 p.m.. Omit flowers.
