Toby "Maco" Cortez Jr., born May 16, 1951, passed away peacefully on January 14, 2026, surrounded by the love and memories of a life well lived.

Toby was a life long resident of northern Colorado, an avid outdoorsman and country music fan who found his greatest joy under open skies. Whether hunting, fishing, or camping with family, the outdoors was where he felt most at home. He carried that same independent spirit into his work as a dedicated semi-truck driver.

Known for his sharp sense of humor and warm presence, Toby had a way of making people laugh and feel at ease. His stories, jokes, and easygoing nature will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Toby and Melinda Cortez Sr., and his sister, Molly Ann "Josie" Arellano.

Toby is survived by his beloved wife, Tammy Cortez of Wellington; his son, Christopher Cortez of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; and his daughter, Estella Figueroa of Fort Collins, from a previous marriage. He is also survived by his brother, Ralph Cortez of Wellington; his sisters, Lucy Wilson and her husband Ralph, and Beverly Cortez and her husband Sam, all of Fort Collins. He leaves behind many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss him dearly.

Toby's legacy lives on in the lives he touched, the laughter he shared, and the countless memories made outdoors with family and friends. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
