Toby Jan Wright, a beloved member of her family and community, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on July 22, 2025, at the age of 70. Born on March 8, 1955, in Scranton, Pennsylvania, Toby bravely navigated life's challenges with a joyous spirit and a remarkable sense of humor. A dedicated professional, she retired in August 2004 after thirty years of service with the Florida Department of Transportation, leaving a legacy of hard work and commitment.
Toby was a devoted wife to her loving husband Jim, with whom she shared 50 wonderful years. Together, they built a beautiful family that included their son Andrew, daughter Jennifer and her husband Joe, stepson Jimmy and his wife Andrea. Toby was a proud grandmother to grandson Jason and his wife Tallie, grandson Joey, granddaughter Natalie, and grandson Drew. Each of them brought immense joy to her life, and she treasured the memories made with them.
In addition to her immediate family, Toby had a close-knit relationship with her siblings. She is survived by her sister Susan, her brother Curtis and his wife Jennifer, and her brother Jeff and his wife Jill. Toby's family extended beyond those living; she held dear the memories of her parents Vernon and Lois, as well as numerous grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins who have also passed.
Her passion for travel was widely recognized, particularly her extensive voyages around the globe with her loving husband, Jim, frequently making them some of the most travelled passengers on their cruises. Together, they explored the world, often accompanied by family and friends.
Despite her adventurous spirit, Toby faced significant health challenges in her later years. She began her battle against polycystic kidney disease, leading to renal failure and a subsequent series of medical treatments. After undergoing a kidney transplant on April 24, 2024, she faced numerous complications, which unfortunately led to her passing. Her strength and resilience throughout these trials were an inspiration to all who knew her.
Throughout her life, Toby was known for her resilience, kindness, and love for those around her. Her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and friends, who will remember her with warmth and affection. Toby Jan Wright’s legacy is one of love, courage, and unwavering devotion to family. She will be profoundly missed but fondly remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
