Tokie Freeman, 96, of Augusta, KS, passed away Monday, January 12, 2026 in Wichita. Visitation 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 20, 2026 at Headley Funeral Chapel, Augusta. Service 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at First Christian Church, Augusta. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery, Augusta. Tokie was born in Kyoto, Japan on September 30, 1929, to the late Nashiki Sugimoto. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Social Order of the Beauceant. Tokie enjoyed going to casinos and buffets, and visiting new places. On December 17, 1952 she married Edward Lyle Freeman in Kyoto, Japan. He preceded her in death on August 5, 2025. She was also preceded in death by her son, John Freeman. She is survived by: son, Ivan Freeman (Rosemary); daughter, Mary Goodwin; daughter in law, Alison Freeman; grandchildren, Adam Goodwin (Melissa), Erin Claflin (Shaun), Kelly Geiger (Matt), Sean Freeman (Maya), Stephen Freeman (Alicia), Paul Freeman, Julia Freeman, and Daniel Freeman; 10 great grandchildren; numerous cousins in Japan. Memorial donations to First Christian Church 1600 State Street Augusta, KS 67010 or American Cancer Society P. O. Box 22478 Oklahoma City, OK 73123.
