Thomas Spalding Clark was born to Sam and Tess Clark on November 18th, 1949, the fourth of their seven children. He lived his life in Louisville and was raised off Sixth Street on Floral Terrace, and Douglass Boulevard in the Highlands. He graduated from St. Francis of Assisi and St. Xavier High School, class of 1968.

Tom invested in real estate shortly after high school; his pieces of rental property were a source of great pride and one continuous project. He mastered the skill of masonry, eventually retiring from Masonomics, Inc. after more than 30 years. He was a gifted mason who took pride in his work and earned the admiration and respect of those who worked with him and for him.

The results of his work can be seen in the beautiful buildings and walls he created, which includes the serpentine wall at the L & N Stadium and the "bullseye" building at Spalding University.

Tom and his "bride," Susan, were married for 47 years. They loved taking long road trips and discovering the simple beauty of our country; from the High Desert of the American West, to the bayous of Louisiana, the Black Hills of South Dakota and everywhere in between. They totally enjoyed each other's company while traveling. They also traveled to Ireland, where they celebrated Tom's Irish heritage, and enjoyed their travels to other countries, as well.

On July 30th, Tom passed away at home, with Susan nearby. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his dear brother, John. He is survived by his wife, Susan Riney Clark; his siblings, George (Marilyn), Mary, Jim (Jill), Ann Siebert (Dan), Ellen Hagerman (Tom) and John's wife, Carol. He is also survived by Susan's siblings, Kathy Budai (Jerry), Dick Riney (Nonnie), Jane Riney, Sally Desmond (Tim) and Lauren Riney; as well as a host of loving cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends.

Visitation will be held at 12:00 pm on Saturday, August 9th, with a memorial Mass to follow at 1:00 pm, all at St. Brigid Catholic Church, 1520 Hepburn Avenue. A reception for family and close friends will follow at the Mellwood Arts Center from 3:00 pm - 7:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to any cause that is dear to the donor's heart in memory of Tom.
