Tom Dell Obituary
Publish in a newspaper
Tom joined his father as a partner at O.B. Dell & Son, Inc. in December 1965, and continued ownership of the business until 1997. He then was employed by IDOT until his retirement in 2019. Tom was a member of Pittsfield Masonic Lodge #790 A.F. & A.M. where he served several offices over the years. Tom served his community over the years on the Illini Hospital Board, Pike County Board, Pike County Shriners Hospital and President of Pittsfield Jaycees. Tom loved riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, putting 122,400 miles on it before sadly giving it up two years ago for an Advanced EV golf cart. He also spent many hours woodworking in his shop at his home.
Tom is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Sue Dell of Pittsfield, IL; daughter, Stephanie (Gary) Dell-Barnes of Quincy, IL; four grandchildren; three step granddaughters; many great grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Lori Dell; sister, Janet (Jamie) Epperson; brother-in-law, Leonard Gregg; and sister-in-law, Jo Reinhardt.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jr. and Leta Dell; son, Aaron Dell; sister, Barbara Dell Gregg; brothers, Ron Dell and Richard Dell in infancy; and sister-in-law, Gladys Reinhardt Tygart.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM, Sunday, November 16, 2025, at Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield with Masonic Service conducted by Pittsfield Masonic Lodge #790 A.F. & A.M. following the visitation at 3:00 PM at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to be made to Shriners Hospital for Children or Gray Cemetery. Online condolences may be left to the family at www.nieburfh.com. Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield is handling the arrangements.
