Tom Hernandez, born September 22, 1962, passed away peacefully on February 28, 2026, at the age of 63.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 39 incredible years, Annette Hernandez, the love of his life and his constant companion on drives, dinners out, and every quiet moment in between.
Tom was the proud father of three sons: Daniel Hernandez (wife Tessa), Andrew Hernandez (wife Alyssa), and Timothy Hernandez (Girlfriend Bela). He lived for his family, especially his grandchildren—Alex, Austin, and Angel—who brought that unstoppable grin to his face every single time.
He is also survived by his brother Frank Hernandez; sisters Didi Hernandez and Mary Hernandez; sister-in-law Becky Hernandez (widow of his late brother Rudy Hernandez, who preceded him in death); and a wide circle of extended family and friends who knew him as the guy who always had time for a game, a laugh, or a cold one.
Tom dedicated 34 years as a groundskeeper with the San Bernardino Unified School District, keeping campuses green, clean, and ready for kids to learn and play. He was a proud union man through CSEA (California School Employees Association), fighting for his fellow workers and standing tall for what was right.
Sports were his religion. A die-hard San Francisco 49ers fan through every heartbreaking season and triumphant Super Bowl run, and of course, a lifelong Dodgers loyalist who bled blue. You’d catch him glued to the TV for any game worth watching—football, baseball, whatever was on—yelling at the screen one minute, high-fiving the next.
But above all, he loved his people. His wife Annette was his world. His sons were his pride. His grandkids were his joy. Simple things—driving around with Mom, grabbing a bite to eat, cheering on the teams, spoiling the little ones—those were the moments that made his life full.
He will be missed in ways words can’t touch. The house feels too quiet without his laugh, the TV without his commentary, the family without his steady presence. Rest easy, Dad. You did it right. We got it from here.
