Tom Hines Obituary

Visit the Roeder Mortuaries - Gretna Chapel website to view the full obituary.

Thomas “Tom” Allen Hines was born in Papillion, NE on December 5th, 1959 to Percy “Dean” and Joanne Hines.

Tom’s first son, Jesse Allen, was born on February 10th, 1986.

In 1994, Tom married Tracy Perchal at St. Columbkille Catholic Church on November 26th.

Tom and Tracy welcomed their son, Justin Thomas, on October 5th, 1997. They moved from Papillion to Gretna, NE in 2001 to raise their family. They became parishioners at St. Patrick Catholic Church and Tom joined the Catholic faith shortly after. Tom worked at Sundberg Appliance Parts where he made a career for 40 years, recently semi-retiring in June.

Tom enjoyed playing slow-pitch softball, camping in Fremont, watching his boys play sports, attending concerts, and dancing to country music with his wife Tracy. In more recent years, Tom spent his time traveling, fishing, going to the casino, and, of course, trips to Vegas and drinking his Crown Royal.

Tom was a humble servant to everyone he met, especially to his mother-in-law Claudia Perchal and brother-in-law Chuck Perchal.

What Tom loved most was spending time with his family and friends. He was blessed to see both of his boys get married in the Catholic Church. He welcomed Jessica (Jesse) on June 18th, 2016 and Brianna (Justin) on July 20th, 2024, to the family. On April 9th, 2025 he welcomed his first grandson, Rhett Thomas, whom he adored!

Tom is preceded in death by his father, Dean Hines, mother, Joanne Hines, and father-in-law, Adolph Perchal, Jr.

Tom is survived by his wife of 31 years, Tracy Hines, son Jesse (Jessica), and son Justin (Brianna), and his grandson Rhett (Justin & Brianna). He is also survived by his mother-in-law Claudia Perchal, brother-in-law Chuck Perchal, sister-in-law Jean (John) Krajicek, sister-in-law Kathy (Denny) Carraher, sister-in-law Kelly Soll, and many nieces and nephews.

For two months, Tom battled a spinal infection which resulted in an emergency spine surgery, with extensive rehabilitation to follow. Tom passed away suddenly on December 10th, 2025 from complications following hospitalization.

Tom impacted many lives and his legacy will carry on through his many family and friends. He will be greatly missed.

There will be a Visitation: Sunday 3:00 - 5:30 PM with Remembrance and Rosary to follow at St. Patrick Catholic Church – Gretna. Funeral Mass: 10:00 AM Monday (12/15/2025) all at St. Patrick Catholic Church 508 Angus St. Gretna, Nebraska; Burial at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Gretna, Nebraska.

In lieu of flowers memorials to the family for later designation.
