Tomas Apodaca passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 6, 2025, at the age of 78, surrounded by the love of his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents Esequiel and Celina Apodaca.
He is survived by his wife Christine; three sons: Leonard, Miguel, Roger; five brothers: Richard, Frank, Steve, Joe, Phillip; four sisters: Mary, Rita, Mona and Laura. He also left behind many nieces and nephews.
Born on December 21, 1946, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Tomas's life was a testament to the values of hard work, devotion to family, and unwavering faith.
A master carpenter by trade, Tomas's skilled hands and keen eye for detail were evident in every project he touched. His work was not just a means to an end but a craft he honed with passion and precision. His legacy can be seen in the homes and hearts he helped build and mend throughout his life. He shared his knowledge and skills generously with those around him.
Tomas's zest for life was matched by his simple pleasures. A connoisseur of hearty meals, he had a particular fondness for steak and eggs, and no dish was complete without the signature New Mexican touch of green chile. Garcia’s takeout was his favorite indulgence on the occasions he dined out, a testament to his love for local flavors and businesses.
Above all, Tomas's pride and joy were his three sons, who were his greatest success. His love for his family extended to his grandsons, who brought immense joy and pride to his later years. Tomas was more than just a father and grandfather; he was a humble teacher, imparting wisdom and life lessons that will continue to guide his family for generations to come.
Tomas was a man of deep faith, a pillar of strength for his loved ones, and a beacon of light for all who knew him. His creative spirit and selfless nature left an indelible mark on the world. Those who were fortunate to know Tomas experienced his kindness and his unwavering willingness to lend a helping hand. He lived his life as a servant of God, and his actions were a reflection of his faith-filled heart.
Tomas will be remembered not just for the things he built with his hands, but for the love, he built with his heart. His memory will live on as a blessing to all who were touched by his presence. Tomas’ Life Celebration will begin with a Rosary to be recited on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at 6:00pm at Salazar Mortuary located at 400 Third St. SW, 87102. Service will begin at 6:30pm. Reception will follow inside Salazar Mortuary’s Event Center.
