Mrs. Tomiko "Tomi" Pinkala of Trinity, FL and formerly of Port Jervis, NY died Thursday, October 23, 2025 at Mease Manor Hospice in Dunedin, FL in the presence of family. She was 95.
She was born September 16, 1930 in Yamagata, Japan the daughter of the late Koji Honma and the late Chiyoko Shida Honma.
Tomiko was the interpreter for Mr. Nicholas Anthony Pinkala while he was serving as a U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Agent in Japan following World War II. Tomiko married Nicholas at the U.S. Embassy in Tokyo, Japan in 1953 and they were married a second time at St. Mary's R.C. Church in Port Jervis, NY when they came to the United States. Tomiko and Nicholas were married for 64 years before his passing on January 18, 2017.
She worked as a Molder for Kolmar Labs in Port Jervis, NY.

A family statement read: Tomiko took great joy in cooking for and feeding anyone she came across. She had a long career as a lipstick molder for Kolmar Labs and in her retirement years she enjoyed many crafts as an outlet for her unending creative instincts. Tomiko never met a stranger and could light up a room with her smile. She spent her final years at Arden Courts in Palm Harbor, FL, receiving excellent care for her memory issues and was an avid participant in needlework, painting and chair yoga. Her family is truly grateful for all the dedicated staff that cared for her as if she was their own mother.
Surviving are: Daughter: Catherine Mitrano and her husband Nicholas of Trinity, FL Daughter: Mary Ann Schultes of Port Jervis, NY Grandson: Jason Schultes and his wife Judy of OH Great Grandson: Willie Schultes of OH Brother: Kuni Homma of Japan Daughter-in-law: Mary Pinkala of TN Also several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter, Ann Marie Pinkala and her son, Anthony "Tony" Pinkala. Tomi was also predeceased by a brother and a sister in Japan and another sister in Hawaii. She was predeceased by her sister-in-law Catherine Riccardi and Catherine's husband Donald Riccaridi along with her brother-in-law, Joseph Pinkala and her son-in-law: William "Willie" Schultes.
There was no visitation and a private graveside service was held at St. Mary's Cemetery, Port Jervis, NY.
