Tommy Brenner Obituary

Tommy D. Brenner, 61 of Satsuma, Florida passed away Friday, August 28, 2009 at his home. Tommy was born on August 18, 1948 in Palatka. Florida to the late Richard and Illee Brenner. He graduated in the Class of 1966 from Crescent City High School where he participated in football, track, FFA and Glee Club. He joined the U.S. Army and served his country in the Vietnam War in 1968. Tommy was a member of the Big Red One 1st Infantry Division and 1st Engineer Battalion. Out of his service in the military he received various medals which include National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with two bronze stars, Vietnam Campaign Medal with 1960 Device, Sharpshooter (M-14 7 M16) and two overseas bars. He specialized in building bridges, roads and was on river patrol. He was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and worked hard to raise money for the Raider Quarterback Club. Tommy owned and operated Brenner & Sons LLC and had been in the marine construction business for 45 years. He was the master of marine construction and could fix anything. He always put others before himself. Survivors are his wife, Cheryl Brenner, son, Daniel Brenner, daughter, Hillary Brenner, brother, Donald (Sheryl) Brenner; mother in law, Cleshie Jones, brother in law, Charles (Carolyn) Jones; sister in law, Paula (Johnnie) Mullins; nephews, Richard and Russell Brenner, Shannon Pheil, Dave Durrant; nieces, Stephanie Pheil, Jolene Jones, Justina Jones, Amy Jones, Misha Brenner-Gelvin, cousin, Fred Howsare; step mother, Maxine Brenner, step brothers, Ronnie White, Randy White; step sisters, Diane Petty, Patty Campbell, Debora Williams, Regina Goodson; great nieces, nephews and many friends. Tommy's life will be celebrated on Tuesday, September 1, 2009, 4 PM at Beulah Baptist Church with Pastors Robby Paxton and Mike Stanley as officiants. In lieu of flowers contributions may be sent to: Cheryl Brenner, P.O. Box 67 Welaka, Florida 32193. Tommy will be missed by all of those whose lives he touched.
