Tommy Dean Brunko was born on July 11, 1942 in Independence, Iowa, the son of Lloyd and Lorraine (Postel) Brunko. He was raised and educated in the Brandon, Iowa school district where he spent most of his childhood growing up. Tom honorably served our country by enlisting in the United States Navy, where he served four years. After he was honorably discharged from the Navy, Tom enlisted with the National Guard for an additional ten plus years.
His heart and faithfulness that he had for his country also flowed into his family and friends. On July 17, 1971, Tom was united in marriage to the love of his life, Audrey Hansen at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Evansdale, Iowa. Tom was one of the most hardworking men who dedicated his working years at John Deere where he worked in the Foundry for his entire career before retiring in 1998.
Tom enjoyed life to the fullest and was an avid fisherman, volunteering his time at Covenant Hospital for many years, making jewelry pictures, but his overall passion was his family. He lived for the memories that were made spending time with his kids and grand kids. Tom was truly a genuine man who is going to be truly missed.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Audrey Brunko; three sons: Scott Brunko, Brian (Michelle) Brunko and Mark Brunko; grandchildren: Darwin (Lexus) Brunko, Noah (Gina) Brunko, Gracie Brunko, Jonah Brunko, Isaiah Brunko and Selah Brunko; one great-grandson: Daylen Brunko; siblings: Shane (Sheila), Mary (Ace) and Sherry as well as several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, In-Laws, Alfred and Helen Hansen and one brother: Gerald Brunko.
