Tommy Gordon Floyd, 81, of Mt. Vernon, IN passed away March 1, 2023 at Willow Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation in Vincennes. He was born June 13, 1941 in Clark County, IN to the late Ray and Virginia (Baldwin) Floyd.
Tommy attended Mt. Vernon High School. He was a United States Air Force veteran. Tommy was a lifetime member of Local #374, where he worked as a traveling Union Boilermaker. He enjoyed tinkering with hot rods, building things with his welder and dancing, especially Zumba dancing. Tommy had a great sense of humor, and even in the throes of dementia could still crack a joke. He dearly loved all of his "babies" and they loved their "Pawpaw" to the moon.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, William T. Floyd and Ray "Duke" Floyd, Jr.; and sister, Carol Sue Rose.
He is survived by his daughters, Kelly Ortiz (Mark) and Tracy Leonard; sons, Gordon Nelson and Brian Cathcart (Kelly); six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister, Helen Muth; close friend, Pam Working, her two daughters and her six grandchildren.
Private family services will be held at a later date.
