Tommy Edward Hamrick, age 59 a resident of Elkins, passed away Sunday morning, April 13 2025 at his home surrounded by his family and under the care of West Virginia Caring Hospice. Tommy fought a short battle with cancer. He was born October 12, 1965 in Elkins, a son of Tom Hamrick and the late Patricia Spicer Hamrick. He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Kathy Diane (Harman) Hamrick. Their relationship began in the 80's and were married on February 3, 2001 at the Crystal Springs Community Church in Elkins. Also surviving is his son, Tyler Edward Hamrick, whom he loved with all his heart. Also surviving are three brothers, Richard Hamrick and wife Lavonne of Montrose, Kenny Hamrick and wife Sandy of Elkins and Brian Hamrick of Beverly. Also surviving are five nephews, Trevor (Robin), Trenton (Michaella), Tanner (Mikala), Nicholas (Lauren), Austin (Harley), two nieces, Ashley (Dalton), Alexis (Jacob), two great nephews, Jamison and Graydon, three great nieces, Llliana, Maisie and Memphis; one on the way in May and another in November. He is survived by his father-in-law, Robert Joe Harman and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Bobbie and Dan Brown; many uncles, aunts, cousins and numerous friends survive. In addition to his mother, Tommy was preceded in death by his grandparents, Haymond and Lucille Spicer and Reverend Robert and Ilean Thompson, two uncles, Guy Spicer and Bobby Hamrick and his mother-in-law, Virginia Harman. Also, his best friend and fellow firefighter brother, Mikey Hart. Tommy graduated from Elkins High School with the class of 1984. He worked for Bob Wamsley's Texaco, Elkins Suzuki, Teter Motors and Roy's RV. He was currently employed at Leslie Equipment Company at Norton for the last 17 years. He was a member of the Elkins Volunteer Fire Department for the past 34 years. This was a huge part of Tommy's life. He attended numerous fire expos with many of his fellow firemen from Elkins and Belington. He was also a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles with his dad and brothers. Tommy was an avid dirt track and Nascar fan. He was a member of local late model dirt track race teams. He really enjoyed going to countless Nascar races and always watched every race. He attended WVU and WVWC football and basketball games. He was on the swim team and played basketball at the YMCA, played football in school, Babe Ruth baseball and was the West Virginia state skateboard champion. He also enjoyed bowling on a league for many years. Tommy's love of traveling took his family to Walt Disney World for at least 20 years. One of his special memories was watching Tyler march through Magic Kingdom with the EHS band. He also took many trips to Pigeon Forge, Tennessee with family and friends. He really loved vacations with his fire department families to the beach every year watching the kids grow up together. So many great memories! More than anything, he especially enjoyed attending all of Tyler's school activities, band concerts, performances and band field shows through all his school years and college at West Virginia Wesleyan College. He was so proud having Tyler as his son. He loved him and his family with all his heart. He enjoyed every moment of Tyler's life. We will all miss Tommy so very much. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, April 18, 2025 at the Tomblyn Funeral home in Elkins, A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, April 19, 2025 with Pastor Tim Turner officiating. Interment will follow in the Mouse Cemetery at Cravensdale. Memorial contributions can be made to the Elkins Volunteer Fire Department, 216 Fourth St.
