It is with loving remembrance, we announce the passing of Bishop Tommy L. Hughes, Sr.

A public viewing for Bishop Tommy L. Hughes, Sr., will be held Friday, October 24, 2025, at the Dade Street Church of God of Prophecy in Tallahassee, FL from 4:00pm - 6:00pm.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, October 25, 2025, at 11:00am at the St. John Missionary Baptist Church (Keith Street).

The committal service for Bishop Tommy L. Hughes, Sr., will conclude on Monday, October 27, 2025, at 11:00am at the Tallahassee National Cemetery with military honors.

Bishop Tommy L. Hughes, Sr., A Perry, FL native and Jerkins High graduate, he attended Suwanee River Junior College and Florida A&M University. He was drafted into the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean Conflict. He was a Train Conductor for Norfolk Southern Railroad, retiring in 1994 after 25 years of service. Bishop Hughes served in Pastoral Ministry for 60 years in the Church of God of Prophecy, having a great love and respect for leaders and lay people alike. His story does not end here - it lives on in every sermon remembered, every prayer answered and every person inspired by his example. On September 4, 1966, Bishop Hughes and Minister Emma Danzy were joined in Holy matrimony, producing twelve children: Tommy Jr. (Sandra), Malcolm (Lienita), Malthus, Sebastian (Leslie), Aquilina (Michael), Byron (Tiffany), Edneatra, Everett, Valerie (DeMario), Emily (Deceased), Michael and Ranata. His siblings are: Norma Scott, Wilhemi, Lawrence II (Betty Jean), James (Lorine), John (Joan) and Henry Hughes.

It is with profound honor to have been entrusted with the care of Bishop Tommy L. Hughes, Sr. and to serve the Hughes family.
