Tommy Murry Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Winegeart Funeral Home on Mar. 30, 2026.
Tommy Lee Murry, 82, of Pampa, Texas, passed away at Texas Specialty Hospital in Amarillo on Thursday, March 26, 2026, with his loving family by his side. He was born on March 3, 1944, to his parents, Tommy, Sr and Ada Mae Murry in San Angelo, Texas.

Moving here from San Angelo, TX in 1957, Tommy attended both Carver and Pampa High School where he was an outstanding athlete and excelled in track and field. He participated in the 100-yard dash, the 200-yard dash, and was the anchor for the 4 x 100 relay with teammates, his brother Charlie Walker, Randy Matson and James Mathis. The four were a powerhouse and quite an unbeatable team.

He met and married Patricia Brown in 1979, and with that union, they became the proud parents of six daughters. Tommy was present the day that Howard Compressor and Maintenance Service opened their doors on July 1, 1980, and he was still in integral part of their team even up to the day when they closed the doors on June 30, 2024, for 44 years of loyal service leading him into retirement.

Tommy was a Dallas Cowboys fan to the core, and he was an avid bowler, but his passion was fishing. He rather enjoyed spending quality time outdoors in God's beauty, soaking up the quiet, and enjoying the tranquility of it all. His last fishing trip was with his nephew, Marc Brown. He loved being outdoors, spending time with his grandchildren, friends and whoever happened to be around him, but his love for the church was always on his mind. He never wanted to miss anything going on there as his top priority was the Lord. He was a humble man and a wonderful deacon for Macedonia. He served as Sunday School Teacher, Usher Board President, on the Finance Committee or wherever he was needed to complete a job – he was always there. Tommy was an amazing prayer warrior to have in your corner. God always had a way of placing Tommy exactly where he needed to be, just when he needed to be there. His favorite quote being, "Do unto others as you would want them to do unto you." Tommy was a very devoted husband, daddy and PaPa. His gentle nature, softspoken demeaner and generous smile will be deeply missed by all whose lives he touched.

He was welcomed into Heaven by his parents, Tommy, Sr and Ada Mae Murry; a brother, Charles Price and a sister, Bobbie Randon; his two daughters, Tonette Gomes and Yolanda Brown; son-in-law, Shawn Touchstone; brothers-in-law, Owen Brown, Robert Brown; sisters-in-law, Saundra Norton and Toni Brown.

His memory will forever be cherished by his precious wife, Patricia Murry of Pampa; his four daughters, Stacy Brown of Austin, Courtney Brown of Lawton, OK, LaQuita Brown of Lawton, OK and Tia Touchstone of Greely, CO; two brothers, Charlie Walker of Pampa, Arthur Williams and wife Lisa of Dallas; a sister, Judy Evans of Colorado Springs, CO; grandchildren, Ashley Brown, Aubrei Dowdy, Bradley Brown, Brandon Prentice, Kendra Grays, Kurston Perryman, Stefan Gomes and wife Hayley, Teagan Touchstone, Tatum Touchstone and six great-grandchildren, Holly Mae Gomes, Stefanie Gomes, Cole Gomes Hayden Perryman, Jayden Dorris, Kingston Curry, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins as well as extended family members who will all miss him tremendously.

The family wishes to express their sincerest gratitude to Pam Deeds and Lisa Howard as well as the entire Howard Compressor family who have been so instrumental to not only our beloved Daddy, but to our family as well. Thank you for loving him!

Tommy will be available for viewing on Wednesday, April 1st from 2pm to 8pm and again Thursday from 9am to 8pm with family available to receive guests from 5pm to 7pm at Winegeart Funeral Home in the Serenity Chapel.

Celebration of Life Homegoing services are scheduled for 11:00 am, Saturday, April 4, 2026, at Macedonia Baptist Church with Pastor Wesly Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery. The family has entrusted the care of their loved one to Winegeart Funeral Home.

For those who prefer to make a donation in honor of Tommy's life, the family kindly suggests they be made to his church home, Macedonia Baptist Church, 441 West Elm Avenue, Pampa, TX 79065.
