Tommy Nolley Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Boren-Conner Funeral Home - Jacksonville on Oct. 22, 2025.
Tommy Glynn Nolley of Rusk passed away 9-28-25. He was born 4-20-47 in Dialville, Tx. He worked for the Rusk and Austin State Schools, and he retired to become an auctioneer, which was his passion. He loved collecting knives, hats, and friends, and he was president of the Texas Knife Collecting Association. He worked closely with a variety of folks and organizations to honor and preserve the memories of our nation's veterans, especially those who served in Vietnam. He is preceded in death by his parents Guy and Cara (King) Nolley; brothers Joe Walter and wife Betty, Winafred, Coy Dean, and Roy Nolley; sister Eletha (Nolley) McIntyre and her husband Billy.

Left to cherish Tommy's memory are his daughter Tamara Barringer and husband David; son by association Jeremy Orr; grandchildren Hollie Rogers and husband Kyle, Raymond Barringer and wife Lauren, Griffin Orr and Delaney Orr; he was Bampa to Haley, Harley, and Keaton; special friend Martha Cox; and many nieces and nephews and "family by association".

Graveside service will be held Saturday, November 8th at Oakland Missionary Church Cemetery at 9am, and a Celebration of Life will follow at Tamara and David's home at 126 Hunters Glen Dr, Lufkin, Texas.

Tommy Nolley was the best Uncle ever. He was strong, caring and opinionated, I thought he would live forever. His unwavering devotion to his family was not just touching, but a legacy that will continue throughout the Nolley generations beyond him.
He kept the memory of his brother, Lee Roy Nolley who was killed in Vietnam, alive through out the years with many tributes and memorials to Vietnam vets and especially those from Texas.
Tommy Nolley's fashion choices were a joy to behold. He wore the loudest shirts and the best cowboy hats in true Texas style. He collected hundreds of hats and knives.
There are so many memories, but for me, the most touching was that after I had a heart attack, he called every few days to check on me. This is what he did, he checked on everyone in his circle of family and friends. Uncle Tommy cared.

His niece Jean Nolley S.
