Tommy Smith Obituary
Tommy Durray Smith, 61, of Gladys died Thursday, May 1, 2025 at his home. He was the husband of Ruby Chapman Smith for 41 years.
He was born July 26, 1963 in Hampton, Va. a son of Paul and Bonnie Smith and Ruby and Thomas Armes. He was a Machinist for over 40 years at Armes Precision Machining & Fabrication (APMF).
He is survived by one son, Elliott Smith; two brothers, Ray Armes (Cory) and Tim Armes (Kelly); five sisters, Robin Coffey (Jeff), Michelle Lannen (Eddie), Beth Kadrich (Greg), June Childrey (Joe), and Angela Hurley; and a number of nieces and nephews who he loved dearly.
Tommy loved hunting with his best friend, Joe Harlow whom he loved as a brother, fishing with his brother, Ray because he always got his fish fillet, watching baseball with his son, and cooking out with family and friends.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m., Monday, May 5, 2025 at Finch & Finch Chapel, Altavista by Pastor Matt Gaston with interment to follow in The Firstborn Prayer Tabernacle Cemetery.
The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service at Finch & Finch Funeral and Cremation Service, Altavista and other times at the residence.
The family suggests that those wishing to make memorials consider St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
