Tonja Tyree Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Tri-State Cremation and Funeral Services on Jan. 29, 2026.
Tonja Sue (Moore) Tyree, age 55, was called home to be with the Lord on January 28, 2026. While our hearts are deeply broken, we find peace in knowing that she is healed, whole, and resting in the presence of Jesus.

She was a devoted wife, mother, and the most loving Mimi. Her grandchildren were her greatest joy, and she treasured every moment with her family. She loved to sing, dance, and laugh, often filling rooms with warmth and joy. Family time was everything to her.

Tonja was a woman of strong faith who trusted God completely. She lived anchored in his promises and believed fully in the hope of Heaven and the joy of this reunion.

She was preceded in death by her parents James Brady Moore and Barbara Lynn Hooper Boman, and her brother James Clint Moore.

She is survived by her husband, Rusty Tyree, and her children: Morgan Garrett and her husband Tyler, and Amy Burnett. Her beloved grandchildren are: Hattie Belle and Kip Garrett, Noah, Lincoln, Malen, Eden Burnett, and Owen Restrepo. She had a brother in law and sister in law, Scott and Tonya Tyree. She also had her nieces and nephews: Troy (Audra), Andrew, and Nathan Moore, Kayla (Joel) Mills, Tiffany Tyree, and Dustin (Abby) Tyree. She also had many other aunts, uncles, cousins, and other family members and friends who will forever cherish her.

Though we mourn her passing, we rejoice in knowing that she is dancing in Heaven and we will see her again.

Her memorial service will be held at Myrtle Springs Baptist Church in Hooks, TX at 1:00 pm on Saturday, February 7, with a visitation preceding.
