Tonya Lynn Choryan, age 73, of Grand Rapids, Michigan, passed away on Wednesday, March 25, 2026 at Corewell Health Butterworth Hospital after a brief illness. The daughter of Myrl Edward & Bonnie Marie (Enderle) Brewer, she was born on September 9, 1952 in Lansing, Michigan.
Tonya was a devoted mother to her sons Jason (Jennifer), Benjamin (Elizabeth), and Travis (Jennifer) and she carried always in her heart the memory of her infant son, Steven Jr., who preceded her in death. She was also a proud and loving grandmother to Trenton, Matthew, Harper, and Brodie, who brought her great joy and happiness.
Throughout her life, Tonya had a deep love for animals and a special passion for rescue. She never hesitated to care for animals in need, reflecting her generous and compassionate spirit. In her later years, she especially cherished her beloved dogs, Harvey and Macy, who were constant companions and a source of comfort and love.
Tonya possessed a strong entrepreneurial spirit and was never afraid to follow her own path. She was known for her independence, lively personality, and strong will. She especially loved the beauty of Michigan summers and the peace she found near the water. Time spent by the lakes and enjoying warm summer days were among the simple pleasures she treasured most. Tonya will be remembered for her spirited nature, her kindness toward animals, and the love she shared with her family. Her strength, humor, and vibrant personality will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
